Listen! My beloved! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” Song of Songs Ch 2v8-13 (NLT)
The season is here. Our Beloved is standing on the other side of the self-protective walls we have built around our hearts. He is peering in through the windows of our souls calling us to arise and run with Him, to ascend and to go higher.
And the key message to our hearts is this:
“The winter is over. Your winter is over. It is dead and gone. It is time to stop looking back. Your barren days are at an end. The hard ground is softening, flowers are blooming, fruit is forming and they join together to announce to the world, your new season has already come”.
So what are we to do in this new season in which we find ourselves? We must look to nature. If the birds are singing to their Maker, then we must sing too. The season of singing has come. We are a choir that finds her voice, that learns a new song. We stand together, each learning our own little part that culminates in a sound that we have never heard before. A sound that shifts, a sound with creative power, a sound that changes atmospheres and ushers in breakthrough. A sound that heralds salvation. A sound that heals and births destiny. And for those who have sown with many tears, this sound brings joy, disperses hope and lifts souls.
Are you ready to sing? Are you ready to stand shoulder to shoulder and learn your part in this grand song? Gaining confidence as we go, growing louder and louder with each verse and finding our victory in the choruses. We cannot harvest without a song. The two go hand in hand. So let us sing! Let us find our voice again! Let us scale the heights with our Beloved, singing and harvesting as we go…And what shall we sing? These words rise in my spirit, crashing upon my soul like waves on hard rock:
“Yes and Amen! Yes and Amen! The promises are always Yes and Amen!
There were many heroes of the faith who never received what God promised because God had planned something better for us. That means you and me. We are invited through the curtain, beyond the veil, into the Most Holy of Places where we meet with our Creator, heart to heart. Only made possible by a Saviour’s blood poured out for us, it is his blood that still speaks a better word. What is this better word? We get to receive every promise God ever made for this very reason: “In Him, it has always been yes. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are Yes in Christ” (2 Corinthians 1v20)
Ponder that thought, let it take hold of your spirit. We can look ahead with confidence, because it’s not Yes and No for us. Every promise is Yes! That means God will deliver: Every. Single. Time. That is why Jesus is the Founder and Perfector of our faith. It is His voice that shakes the earth and heavens. It is His voice that thunders and in the thunder, He removes everything that has no foundation so that only what cannot be shaken remains. What cannot be shaken is His Kingdom. With His coming, He declared, “It is here…the Kingdom of God is among you”. And with it come His promises. Signed, sealed and delivered by His blood.
So what can be our only response but a life laid down, a living sacrifice, our only acceptable worship: hearts and minds surrendered to His Spirit and His Truth, as we abandon ourselves in reverence and awe before our King.
